Animals & Service Dogs

Only certified service animals are permitted inside Appalachian Wireless Arena. No pets or other animals are allowed at any time. Service animals must remain under the control of their handler and are welcome in all public areas of the venue. Emotional support animals or pets do not qualify under this policy. Guests with service animals are encouraged to notify staff upon entry if they require specific assistance or seating adjustments. Violations of this policy may result in removal from the premises.

Age Requirements

Children ages 2 and older require a ticket for admission to most events at Appalachian Wireless Arena. For select children’s shows, tickets may be required for all children age 1 and older. Anyone occupying a seat, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. This policy ensures proper capacity management and safety. Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising minors throughout the event. Exceptions are rare and typically limited to specific family-oriented programming; always verify with the box office for the event in question.

Bag Policy

Appalachian Wireless Arena enforces a clear bag policy to enhance security and speed entry. Permitted bags include clear plastic totes or bags no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″, or small wallet-sized wristlets and clutches measuring no more than 5″ x 8″ (or approximately 4.5″ x 6.5″ in some announcements). Non-clear bags are generally prohibited except for these small clutches. All bags are subject to inspection upon entry. Backpacks, large purses, and oversized items are not allowed. Guests should plan accordingly to avoid delays or having to return items to their vehicles.

Entry and Security

Security at Appalachian Wireless Arena includes bag inspections, possible metal detector screenings, and pat-downs as needed. Guests must pass through screening points at all entrances. No re-entry is permitted with the same ticket except in documented medical emergencies; affected individuals should visit the Guest Services Desk. The venue reserves the right to determine screening methods and may prohibit entry for safety reasons. Arrive early to account for potential delays, especially during high-attendance events. Professional security personnel enforce these measures to ensure a safe environment.

Food, Drink & Alcohol

Outside food and beverages are prohibited except for medically necessary items. Guests with special dietary needs due to medical conditions or religious requirements should contact the venue ahead of time at 606-444-5445. Concession stands on the main concourse offer a variety of food and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as alcoholic beverages including beer, wine, mixed drinks, and hard seltzers. Alcohol service follows responsible practices, with staff authorized to refuse service. Water bottles may be permitted in some cases; confirm per event. All purchases are subject to applicable age restrictions for alcohol.

Payment Options

The arena accepts major credit and debit cards at concessions and the box office. Mobile payment options are commonly supported. ATMs operated by Community Trust Bank are conveniently located on the main concourse near the box office for cash withdrawals. Cash payments may also be accepted at some locations, but card or digital methods are encouraged for faster service. Will Call and ticket purchases at the box office require photo identification. Plan ahead as cash machines can experience high demand during events.

Photography and Recording

Video cameras, audio recorders, and professional cameras with detachable lenses are generally prohibited. Still cameras without flash may be allowed at certain family-friendly or designated events, subject to artist or promoter restrictions. Many shows ban all cameras and recording devices entirely. Selfie sticks, GoPros, iPads, and similar devices are typically not permitted. Guests should check event-specific rules via the venue or promoter. Unauthorized recording can lead to confiscation or ejection. Contact the arena at 606-444-5500 for clarification on particular performances.

Prohibited Items

Appalachian Wireless Arena maintains a strict list of prohibited items for safety: umbrellas, cans, bottles, coolers, laser pens/products, air horns/noise makers, weapons of any kind (including pocket knives), video cameras, audio recorders, professional cameras, and any other item deemed unacceptable by management. Items discovered during screening may be returned to a vehicle or discarded; the arena does not store prohibited belongings. This policy helps maintain a secure and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.

Smoking Policy

The venue is a completely smoke-free and tobacco-free facility. Smoking, vaping, and tobacco use are prohibited indoors. Designated outdoor smoking areas are available on balconies at sections 202, 205, 219, and 222 on the main concourse. Guests must use only these areas and properly dispose of waste. Violations, including failure to follow the policy, may result in ejection. This ensures a healthy environment aligned with local regulations.
